We don't suffer from either of those diseases.

So... the solution that seems to work to remedy the problem of the persistent, nagging credential challenge from Microsoft Outlook in Windows is the following:

  1. Start the registry editor (regedit)
  2. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\AutoDiscover
  3. Create a DWORD entry named "ExcludeExplicitO365Endpoint" (no quotes) and set the value to 1
  4. Close Outlook
  5. Start Outlook

That should do it!
